Hello, and welcome to my website.

I'm Martin McConachie, a Football Services Officer at the Gloucestershire FA based in the village of Oldland Common, between Bristol and Bath. It's a nice place to live; quite rural but with the two cities each just a 20-minute journey away.

I have also been a keen writer for many years which is why I'm in the research phase of my third. Entitled "Team Of My Life", it should be out in 2024 and will follow on the heels of "Birth Of The Giant Killers" in 2009 and "10" in 2013. Those books were both about Yeovil Town FC whereas this one, well, it's a unique collection of football biographies. I've done my research and soon it will be time to pick up the phone & the pen.

I also work as an Opta in-ground analyst and I produce matchday programmes for four football clubs as part of "Hamdon Media". Why that name? I was born in the Somerset village of Stoke-sub-Hamdon & the village itself nestles underneath the Iron Age hill fort & beauty spot that is Ham Hill, pictured above.

I'm easy to get hold of. You can call me on 07432 614494, email me at martin@hamdonmedia.co.uk or @HamdonMart on Twitter. It would be great to chat!

Enjoy the website.

Somerset FA "Secretary Of The Year" Award

On 10th June 2022, I was shocked and delighted to receive the above award from the Somerset FA's Martin Peters at the Hengrove Athletic FC presentation night.

I've been secretary at Norton Lane for five years now and enjoy working in football administration. It's a year-round job for sure but hugely rewarding.

My thanks to everyone that helps me and makes the job worthwhile.

Saturday 2nd January 2021

This was the day I saw my first match report published in a national newspaper.

It was for the sports agency Lancaster & Crowther, based in Manchester, and appeared in The Sun on Sunday. It involved sending the match report, including quotes from both managers by 6pm that evening.

I tweeted the news the following day and to date, this has had more than 200 likes, one of my most successful tweets ever.

Thoroughly enjoyed working for the agency and hope to do more work with them in the future. It was flippin' cold though!!

"Team Of My Life", a collection of celebrity football biographies, will be out in 2024.
